• Mr. Tareq Abdul Wahab Al Sahhaf

    CEO & Board Member

    Earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Insurance from College of Insurance - New York City in addition to an Insurance Business Technique Certificate from the United States of America in 1984.

    Joined Gulf Insurance Group-Kuwait (formerly known as Gulf Insurance Company) in January 1979. Starting as an Assistant Manager in the Marine & Aviation Department from 1981. Mr Al-Sahhaf was assigned as Manager of the same department in 1987 . In 1991, he was assigned as AGM – Marine & Aviation Department and DGM for the same department in 1998. During July 2007, he was General Manager and Chairman of Gulf Life Insurance Company.

    As of 2015, Mr. Al-Sahhaf has held the title as a CEO of Gulf Insurance Group-Kuwait to present day, as well as a board member in GIG-Syria & GIG-Egypt.

  • Mr. Ali Al Hendal

    Deputy CEO - Operation

    Mr. Al-Hendal's education began with a Bachelor's in Information Technology from University of Philadelphia, topped with an Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII). To further his expertise, he earned a MBA from Maastricht School of Management.

    His journey in Gulf Insurance Group-Kuwiat began in 2005, shorlty after Mr. Al-Hendal graduated from the second group of the Management Development Program within GIG-Kuwait, which aims to develop the next generation of the top management.

    Between 2013 and 2016, Mr. Al-Hendal held the title of Assistant General Manager, responsible to lead two divisions of life and health insurance and to develop short and long- term policies. Mr. Al-Hendal became a Board Member of ELTIC “Egyptian Life Takaful Insurance Company”- between 2013 until July 2017. Then in 2017, he earned the role as Deputy CEO - Operations, responsible to lead the technical affairs in GIG-Kuwait as well as being a Board Member of Arab Orient Insurance Company – Jordan since March 2017.

  • Mrs. Duaa Aburizik

    Director - Medical Operations

    Mrs. Duaa holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the Jordan University of Science and Technology and she is also Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).

    Mrs. Duaa started her career since 15 years, where she worked in the field of Managed Care in Munich Re Group. She joined GIG in 2013, where she worked as a Manger of the Medical Networks Department and then moved up and became the Director of the Medical Insurance Operations since 2017 till now.

    Mrs. Duaa has an extensive experience in managing health insurance operations, especially with regard to strategic planning, digital transformation, process engineering and product development. She also has extensive experience in developing healthcare strategies and public-private partnerships.

  • Mr. Wael Abdel Razek

    Director of Finance Department

    Mr. Wael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from Tanta University - Egypt.

    Mr. Wael started his journey with GIG-Kuwait since 1992, where he assumed many responsibilities through a career full of achievements where the group successfully expanded across the MENA region and achieved an outstanding growth.

    In his current position, Mr. Wael is responsible for managing the financial operations, Treasury and Credit control operations, as well as Annual Budgeting & Financial reporting.

    In addition, Mr. Wael manages the financial control operations and leads the development of financial policies and procedures in line with the company's strategic

    Member of the Board of Directors & the Audit committee of GIG - Egypt Life Takaful.

    Member of the Board of Directors & the Audit committee of GIG - Syria.

  • Mr. Ahmad Husain

    Executive Manager - Marine, Aviation & Casualty Department

    Mr. Ahmad holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from Oregon State University (USA) and an MBA degree from Kuwait Maastricht Business School (KMBS) as well as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).

    Mr. Ahmad started his career with Gulf Insurance more than 15 years ago and has been working in many areas including underwriting, claims, reinsurance and product development across different lines of business. He has a proven record in major businesses and complex claims. He is a member of the Development Committee of Kuwait Insurance Federation and previously served as a member of the Marine Technical Committee in Kuwait Insurance Federation and General Arab Insurance Federation. Currently, Mr. Ahmad is a member of the Board of Directors of Gulf Takaful Insurance – Kuwait and member of the Audit and Risk Management Committees.

  • Mr. Taher Al-Khateeb

    Head of Legal Affairs Department

    Mr. Taher started his career with TAG Law Firm, around 20 years ago as a commercial Litigation attorney, thereafter, he specialized in project finance documentation with Kuwait Fund and Opec Fund (Austria) for a couple of years before joining GIG.

    He has a diverse understanding of many legal fields, including corporate litigation, arbitration, takaful insurance, antitrust, administrative tribunals, anti-corruption, governmental policies, and multilateral agreements across different lines of business. He has a proven record in landmark constitutional and cassation cases.

    Alkhateeb has also served as a civil law lecturer at (PAAET).

    He has previously served as Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Mind Sports Association; also as a competitor, he represented Kuwait in the London Mind sports Olympiad.

    Currently, He is registered with Kuwait Bar Association as a licensed attorney before the Higher Constitutional Court and Court of Cassation.

  • Mrs. Manal Makarem

    Executive Manager – Risk Management Department

    Ms. Manal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration (Honors) from the Lebanese University and she holds the Certified Operational Risk Professional (CORP) certificate, as well as other professional certifications in risk management and financial analysis.

    Ms. Manal started her banking career at Ahli United Bank of Kuwait (formerly Bank of Kuwait and Middle East) and has over 20 years of experience in operations, corporate banking, and risk management. In 2020, she joined Warba Bank as the Head of the Operational Risk department. During her tenure at Warba Bank, she singlehandedly developed advanced mechanisms to rapidly identify, mitigate and monitor potent risks in different departments at the bank and served as a member of multiple committees. Her scope of work in banking included fraud investigations, business continuity management, and disaster recovery planning. She also managed in-depth training sessions throughout the bank to raise awareness of the gravity of risk management. She employed her extensive experience to coordinate efforts between segments and propose dynamic solutions across the bank.

    She joined Gulf Insurance Group-Kuwait in 2023 and was the first to hold this position as part of the company’s vision to integrate risk management in the company’s profile and enhance its overall business performance.

  • Mr. Amer Al-Shammari

    Director - Human Resource and Central Services

    Mr. Amer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Management System Engineering from Kuwait University. Moreover, he holds several international HR certifications and Green Belt 6 Sigma certificate.

    Mr. Amer joined GIG in 2023, where before joining GIG he has more than 20 years of experience in Human Resources, Facilities Management and Services in several industries. During his career he worked on different HR benchmarks covering HR practices in the GCC region, he also worked in and Managed projects in redesigning HR practices (Branding and Attracting, Hiring and Retaining), HR Digitalization and System implementation, Organization design, Change Management initiatives, HR Business Continuity plans and Nationalization initiatives. In addition, he led the Facility management and Services teams, which focuses on maintaining building facilities, applying government requirements, managing services contracts while maintaining high standards services require for the business.
